ACTION ALERT! ACTION ALERT! ACTION ALERT! ACTION ALERT!

Congress recently extended Federal tax credits for wind energy development. This will enable wind developers to begin construction on approved projects on the Allegheny Front. We must contact the WV Public Service Commission and Congressmen Rahall and Mollohan and insist on a construction moratorium on wind turbine projects in WV.

Keep Dolly Sods Wild!

200 WINDMILLS UP TO 465 FEET TALL ARE PLANNED
FOR THE ALLEGHENY FRONT NEAR DOLLY SODS.

Friends of the Allegheny Front was formed in response to a planned commercial wind energy facility consisting of approximately 200 wind turbines up to 465 feet tall to be constructed on the crest of the Allegheny Front beginning near Bear Rocks. The wind farm will impact scenic areas in the Dolly Sods view shed, farms and private properties in the Allegheny Fore Knobs, and valleys and ridges beyond.

Friends of the Allegheny Front wants to preserve the environmentally sensitive areas, protect and enhance community character and aesthetics, and ensure the protection of endangered species and migratory birds. We are concerned about health and safety considerations including fire hazards, tower failure, electromagnetic fields, noise, air navigation safety, and the potential for declining property values resulting from this project.

We joined with Friends of Blackwater www.saveblackwater.org in a campaign to KEEP DOLLY SODS WILD! Our goal is to protect the highly valued scenic and environmentally sensitive Front from Mt. Pisgah to Dolly Sods.
